"Is there any way to obtain a new evaluation license or extend the current evaluation license

Hi There,

I have created a virtual environment to test my project practical session(Cybersecurity in Organizations: firewall penetration testing for preventing cyberattacks in organizations) by including Fortinet firewall (os7.0.10.-1) but the evaluation license expired.

"Is there any way to obtain a new evaluation license or extend the current evaluation license if it has expired? Are there any limitations or restrictions on the use of the evaluation license, such as the number of users, data processing, or duration? Additionally, are there any alternative options for testing the Fortinet virtual environment, such as a free trial or a demo version?"

Best Regards,

Rexon

Hi, as you are on version 7.0.10 you can extend the evaluation for the next 14 days by resetting the VM FG with this command exe factoryreset2 This will reset all configs except IP addresses on the interfaces and routing.

If you take a VM copy of FortiOS 7.2.1 or newer (e.g. 7.2.4) and register it in the FortiCloud with any email account (all is free) you will get non-expiring evaluation VM Fortigate, which has to have access to the Internet and also has all the same limitations of this free evaluation license, but at least does not expire.

Alternative options are evaluation licenses for 60 days - they enable ALL features on VM FG, including subscription to the FortiGuard services. But you can only get them from your Account Manager at Fortinet, if you have one.

Limitations of the free evaluation license, as well as walkthrough of applying in can be found, among other places, here https://yurisk.info/2022/08/08/Fortigate-free-VM-Evaluation-License-is-now-permanent-not-15-days/
